Transmission of coronavirus through food

According to EFSA’s latest recommendations (of 3/9/2020), there is no evidence of transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19) through food. Researchers report that in a previous epidemics associated with SARS and MERS this type of situation did not take place.

At the same time, there are premises to maintain healthy consumer practices and increased caution at the production and transport stages:

🍏 Processing food at a temperature of 60*C for 30 minutes destroys coronavirus, so foods prepared with high temperature cooking are safe.

🍏 Remember to be cautious when shopping: handle loose sold products through protective gloves.

🍏 It is unhygienic behavior to touch products that are intended for consumption without washing and heat treatment.

🍏 Also keep proper hygiene of washing and processing food products at home.
